A number of infertile men are clearly obsessed about their inability to have an organized sex life. Men with oligospermia must attempt to impregnate their spouses for at least one or two years before conceding that, they have the symptom of male infertility; in fact, physicians call this exercise as trying period, when there might be chances of a definite pregnancy. Right now, there are not many proven methods to help you produce a copious amount of sperms. Medical treatment for male infertility has a very low success rate and it exerts undesirable and unpleasant side effects.

The modern system of treating male infertility relies on a simple procedure called sperm survival test. In this test, your physician will wash the sperm mass and store them in the culture medium under controlled conditions for a day. Once the sperm mass passes 24 hours of storage, they are assessed for their recovery. The result is compared with those values that were obtained before they were preserved in the incubator. If the test results show that there are ore than 3 million highly motile sperms per milliliter, your physician will grade them as good and fertile enough to impregnate a cell. On the contrary, if the survival rate is very low or close to zero, then the chances of conception will be almost non-existent.

Treatment options for acute oligospermia are very limited and the available treatment selection is limited to prescribing some proprietary drugs and medicines. However, the results obtained by using these drugs are very disappointing and frustrating. Your physician may also ask you agree for a procedure called Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI) where the available sperms are cleanly, washed aseptically in the laboratory, and later fertilize the egg from your spouse. Chances of conception are about even under such cases. Oligospermia is a delicate symptom that adversely affects men, who are facing the ordeals of male infertility.
